You will not be employed by or carry out work for Humans Cornwall; we have a dedicated team to help identify private personal assistants for care and support. These roles are personally assisting somebody to achieve their goals, gain independence and/or manage their daily lives; These will be self-funded by the family or person, or they may receive a Direct payment from Cornwall council. *
Location: Scorrier, Redruth
A young gentleman in the Redruth area seeks support from a Personal Assistant during the week. This gentleman has a passion and love for food, he loves to spend hours gaming and listening to music in his bedroom, and he has two cats which he adores. Your role will be to spend time with this gentleman, getting to know him, and the foods he loves to eat, building up a bond with him, and gaining trust. You will be there to teach him to cook, do the activities he loves to do, and eventually encourage him to go out of the house and into the community for activities. A key part of this role will be an understanding of neurodiversity. This young man is extremely high functioning, but when feeling overwhelmed can get quite frustrated, so you will be his trusted person to fall back on and help him to calm down in these situations.
Support required:
· Support to access the community when ready to do so
· Understanding of neurodiversity
· Assisting with learning/understanding how to cook
· House cleaning as and when required
· Meal preparation
Rate and support hours:
Hourly rate of pay: £14.72
Hours per week: Initially 4, with the chance for an increase for the right candidate
Schedule: To be negotiated, but ideally either 4 hours on a Tuesday, or 2 hours on both Tuesday and Wednesday
