You will not be employed by or carry out work for Humans Cornwall; we have a dedicated team to help identify private personal assistants for care and support. These roles are personally assisting somebody to achieve their goals, gain independence and/or manage their daily lives; These will be self-funded by the family or person, or they may receive a Direct payment from Cornwall council. *

Lady who is a keen swimmer, and who used to like reading seeks an outgoing & proactive personal assistant to provide her with motivation & encouragement, while also supporting her to feel at ease in the world around her. She has a diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia; the role is to provide flexible ad-hoc support to give the husband respite.
About You:
· You are kind, friendly & approachable with a demeanour that makes people feel & be at ease
· You proactively initiate & engage in conversation with a view to getting the best out of the people you support
· You provide effective encouragement & motivation complimented by a consistent level of enthusiasm
· You are a confident swimmer
· You have some experience in a support role & have developed ‘life skills’
Support required:
· Companionship
· Personal care
· Accessing community i.e. swimming
· Transport to and from the residential home
Hourly rate of pay: £15 + mileage (receipts will need to be provided)
Schedule:
5 hours on Saturdays & Sundays – this will not be every week and can be discussed further
Essential:
· Proof of DBS
· Full driving licence
· Experience working with people with mental health conditions
· Experience working with people with dementia
· Public Liability Insurance
· Must be self-employed
