Congratulations!Congratulations!

The Proud to Care Awards 2024, held on 20th September at Tregenna Castle Hotel in St Ives, celebrated the achievements of adult social care workers in Cornwall. It was a joyous occasion that displayed recognition for some of the amazing work that goes on day by day in our local communities.  We celebrated with those who were shortlisted, who received avid support from their colleagues.

It was fantastic to meet some of Cornwall’s most amazing people and hear the nominations that made the 11 worthy winners, plus 2 surprise awards! Well done to all who were nominated, and to everyone else doing such great work in this sector – you are ALL winners and we are proud of each and every one of you.

We loved it so much that we are already planning for next year…

Read some of the wonderful nominations received:

‘’I cannot put into words how good this person is. They have been so amusing, flexible and patient I couldn’t ask for a better person who makes my days a lot of fun and always goes the extra mile. Nothing is an issue I feel very safe with her each and every day.’’

‘’The Person We Support soft toy disintegrated and they can’t sleep without.  Libby worked really hard to find pieces of material and hand sewn a replica toy so the individual could sleep well. The person we support was overjoyed.’’

‘’B is such a caring & lovely lady . She is very upbeat & always has a smile & makes people feel happy & is so good at her job.’’

‘‘All her work was person centred. She treated Dad with dignity and kindness always. She had a ready smile and loved to listen to him tell a tale, crack a joke or comment on the politics of the day. She made his life bearable’’

‘’Over the time that K was caring, my parents’ needs changed from just needing someone to pop in and cook and chat once a week, to full end of life care. She just took it in her stride. ‘It’s what we do,’ she said, but I know that she did it with more dignity and more understanding than anyone else.  My parents’ last months were made infinitely better because of K.’’

‘’A truly cares about each individual and gives them time to express exactly how they are feeling, allowing them to make choices. Whilst never rushing through visits she interacts with customers at the same time completing every task with attention to detail.’’

‘’Consistently goes above and beyond in their duties, demonstrating remarkable compassion, innovation, and a deep commitment to the well-being of the individuals we support. Their patient and thoughtful approach ensures that each person feels valued and respected, enhancing their quality of life in significant ways.’’
