At Rethink Mental Illness, we are dedicated to transforming the lives of people severely affected by mental illness. With nearly 50 years of experience, we provide expert, compassionate support to help individuals live independently, navigate crises, and realise they are not alone. Every year, we directly support nearly 60,000 people across England.

We believe that everyone affected by mental illness deserves access to high-quality care, respect, and the opportunity to thrive. Our mission is to improve the lives of people with mental illness through practical support, campaigning, and education.

Safe, supported housing options for individuals living with mental illness, helping them maintain independence and stability.
📞 Helplines
Professionally staffed helplines offering solution-focused guidance, emotional support, and signposting to relevant services.
🗣️ Advocacy
Empowering individuals to voice their opinions, understand their rights, and access the services they need. We also represent those who are unable to speak for themselves.
👥 Carer Support
Founded by carers, we continue to champion their rights and provide tailored support, recognising their vital role in recovery and wellbeing.
🧠 Mental Health Training
We deliver workplace mental health training to foster understanding, reduce stigma, and create supportive environments for employees.
🧭 Mental Health Navigation
Guidance through complex mental health systems, helping individuals access the right care and support at the right time.
🌬️ Breathing Space Services
Crisis support and short-term interventions to help people manage acute mental health episodes and avoid hospitalisation.
🧑🤝🧑 Community Mental Health Units
Localised services offering therapeutic support, social inclusion activities, and recovery-focused care.
💬 Peer Support Groups
Over 100 peer-led groups across England, providing safe spaces for shared experiences, mutual support, and community connection.
Campaigning and Advocacy
We campaign nationally and locally to improve mental health services, challenge stigma, and influence policy. Our work includes lobbying for changes to the Mental Health Act, protecting funding, and raising awareness through events like World Mental Health Day and Time to Talk Day.
