Havencare is a forward-thinking and growing charity. We have been making a difference for 35 years, changing the lives of people who have learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and other support needs. Our big aims include every person having a home that is right for them, and support for the life they choose.
At Havencare, first and foremost, we are looking for outstanding people who align with our values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.
An understanding of positive behaviour support (PBS) and leading PBS in practice would be an advantage, although not essential because we can develop these skills and experience with the right person who has the attitude and aptitude to learn and deliver at this level.
About the Role
As Practice Leader your role will include all day to day running of the service overseeing a team of support workers including providing supervisions and appraisals, goal settings. Arranging and leading on team meetings and Individuals reviews. This will also include updating and supporting with appointments, writing support plans and risk assessments, Rota management and supporting Mr R himself.
About Mr R
Mr R has been supported by Havencare since 2020. He has an established team and is supported 1-1 from 1000 – 2200, sleep and then cover 0700 – 1000.
Mr R is autistic and lives with an acquired brain injury and epilepsy, he sometimes has trouble understanding the do’s and don’ts of life, he can get information muddled up and over think things which causes him to feel anxious and frustrated. Mr R needs skilled, timely and patient emotional support to focus on his understanding and to manage distress when things don’t go as he expects. Mr R can be repetitive when anxious or unsettled and staff will need to be able to distract and redirect him with different conversations and activities.
Mr R has his own home and requires support with maintaining all areas of his home and health, although he is partially independent with his medication and is empowered and involved with decision making about his life. Mr R is encouraged to continually talk to staff to explore and understand the day ahead, to include get out & about to visit and explore various destinations. We are currently supporting him to consider different ways he can fill his week with things he enjoys doing.
Mr R is an avid Pirates fan with a season ticket, and attends as many matches as he can, He will also watch rugby and Football on TV whenever on, it isn’t essential that his staff have a knowledge of rugby as he will take time to explain everything you ever needed to know! Mr R has a wicked sense of humour, and enjoys having a laugh and a joke, he enjoys watching all sports and is a budding cook – he has all James Martin books and enjoys the opportunity to watch live shows when he is touring locally. He also enjoys walking, gardening and sets himself projects to make things from wood for his home. He requires someone that will enjoy what he enjoys.
