Funding available for DBS and uniform costs

People Hub Cornwall & Isles of Scilly (www.peoplehub.info) have funding available to pay for DBS checks and if required can also contribute towards uniform costs for people starting a new role.

People Hub are keen to support people into work within the care sector and have asked us to promote the funding that they have available so that costs for DBS/uniforms are not a factor putting people off joining the care workforce. For employers that usually cover the cost of DBS checks for new starters this funding means that you will not need to pay out that cost.

People Hub report they can access the funding for DBS and uniform costs fast (most cases same day as request received) so it shouldn’t add any delay for the process.

To be eligible for funding new starters should be:

  • 16yrs old or over
  • Live in Cornwall (have a postcode within Cornwall)

If you would like to find out more or refer a new starter to have a DBS check funded please email Olie.allen@cornwall.gov.uk or Nadia.Mills@cornwall.gov.uk with name and contact information for your new starter.

This funding via People Hub is available through the shared prosperity/levelling up fund. They have an allocation available for around 300 more DBS checks this year so it would be great to see these benefit the care sector if we can.
