You will not be employed by or carry out work for Humans Cornwall; we have a dedicated team to help identify private personal assistants for care and support. These roles are personally assisting somebody to achieve their goals, gain independence and/or manage their daily lives; These will be self-funded by the family or person, or they may receive a Direct payment from Cornwall council. *
Location: Newquay
Man in his 30’s seeks a team of personal assistants to support him both at home and out in the community. He has a diagnosis of autism as well as complex needs.
Support required:
· Homecare
· Attending activities
· Cooking
· Laundry
· Companionship
· Driving
Hourly rate of pay: £13.54
Hours per week: 49 hours total
Two or three people are required to provide a weekly total of 49 daytime hours. This number will increase in the coming months. This can be split between 1 full time position and 2 part time positions, or 3 part time positions, etc. The posts will be built around each team members availability in conjunction with the routine and needs of the person to be supported.
Schedule: Slow introductions are required – half an hour one day, an hour a couple of days later, two hours a further few days later etc. until achieving the full number of agreed hours. The client would like to familiarise themselves with their personal assistant before they begin the longer-hours post.
Essential:
· Must be self-employed
· Driving Licence
· Valid DBS
· Public Liability Insurance
· Patience, calmness, clear communication, high-energy, creative, outside-of-the-box thinking and a drive to enable and put the person to be supported in control – as opposed to ‘doing everything for them or to them’ is vital.
· Must be committed to the long haul as opposed to a short-term position
· Must be comfortable around cats
