* This role is a private arrangement with a person or family who is seeking support for someone else or themselves. You will not be employed by or carry out work for Humans Cornwall; we have a dedicated team to help identify private personal assistants for care and support. These roles are personally assisting somebody to achieve their goals, gain independence and/or manage their daily lives; These will be self-funded by the family or person, or they may receive a Direct payment from Cornwall council. *

Location: Rural location circa 3 miles west of Bodmin.

Couple in their mid-80s, seek an empathetic personal assistant to support them to maintain their independence, mobility, and wellbeing. The gentleman has prostate cancer, and the lady has balance problems and reduced mobility.

Support required:

·       To provide company;

·       Support with some personal care – washing and dressing but hopefully the need will diminish;

·       Preparing meals;

·       Shopping and;

·       General housework.

Hourly rate of pay: £17

Hours per week: variable subject to a minimum of 10 hours (five 2-hourly visits).

The couple’s son is currently staying with them. Extended hours will be required when he is away, up to 7 hours per day for consecutive days, which may include weekends.

Working schedule:

Weekdays: two hours between (11:00 – 13:00)

Extended hours: up to seven hours (10:00 – 17:00)

Essential:

·       Full driving licence and own car.

·       A proactive approach willing to adapt to the couples needs which are expected to change over time.

·       Sense of humour.

·       Valid DBS

·       Public Liability Insurance

·       Must be self-employed

 

Desirable:

·       A love of nature and happy to feed Robins on the doorstep.
