These roles are personally assisting somebody to achieve their goals, gain independence and/or manage their daily lives; These will be self-funded by the family or person, or they may receive a Direct payment from Cornwall council. *

Location: Seaton (Nr. Looe)

70-year-old man who enjoys puzzles and engaging with people, seeks a creative and kind personal assistant to join his cheery team. He has suffered an autoimmune brain disease, which resulted in over 25 strokes. Although his recovery path has in many ways been inspirational, he still has profound physical disability and mental neurological disability, which affect all aspect of his life including movement, speech (he is non-verbal) and swallowing.

This role is person-facing; the family are looking for someone who is an independent thinker and who can create a strong rapport with the people they support.

 

Support required:

Personal care most required however there are additional hours available for continued support:

  • Companionship
  • PEG feed, nebuliser, cough assist machine when required
  • Support with physical movement both through physio exercises and engagement in relevant meaningful tasks

Hourly rate of pay: £20.00 + contribution to expenses

Hours per week: Negotiable. This will be discussed further during the interview stage. The role may also include additional support during the day & night (waking night/ sleep-ins depending on what support the gentleman needs).

Working schedule: This can be flexible and accommodated around the applicant’s availability.

Mornings – 1.5hrs (Around 8:30 start time but is flexible)

Evenings – 1 hours (Around 19:30 start time but is flexible)

Essential:

–        Someone who is patient, kind & warm-hearted

–        Experience of/willing to learn how to use hoist/PEG feed/Nebuliser/Cough Assist (Training to be provided)

–        Family has 2 friendly dogs, so any applicants must be okay with animals

Desirable:

–        Previous experience in a support role
