These roles are personally assisting somebody to achieve their goals, gain independence and/or manage their daily lives; These will be self-funded by the family or person, or they may receive a Direct payment from Cornwall council. *
Location: Penzance
Manual self-propelled wheelchair user who helps to run an online fundraising group in memory of George Michael, seeks a sociable, active and empathetic Personal Assistant to support her at home and to access the community.
She has her own Motability car, which the successful applicant will be required to drive. She enjoys going out in her manual wheelchair for exercise and fresh air and will require assistance with pushing it (e.g. over tough terrain, hills or curbs).
Support:
· Light housework – laundry, cleaning kitchen and bathroom, dusting, hoovering/mopping, occasional inside window cleaning (for a bungalow).
· Personal care – maintaining good skin health, going to medical appointments, which can be in Plymouth, Truro and Penzance.
· Shopping, going to appointments, keeping up with correspondence, staying in touch with family and friends
· Companionship
· Help with general fitness and maintaining an active lifestyle
Hourly rate of pay: £12 (employed) or £14.72 (self-employed)
Hours per week: 16 hours
Working schedule: Negotiable and flexible, to be discussed at interview.
Essential:
· Current and valid DBS check
· Empathetic, trustworthy, can-do attitude and good sense of humour.
· Clean driving licence
· A love of the outdoors, in all seasons
· Flexibility in routine
Start date: Immediate (but can be flexible)
