These roles are personally assisting somebody to achieve their goals, gain independence and/or manage their daily lives; These will be self-funded by the family or person, or they may receive a Direct payment from Cornwall council. *

Location: Near Truro

Active ex-paramedic is seeking a chatty personal assistant to support them with daily living. They actively participate in voluntary work, are passionate about politics, engage in community activism and enjoy board games. They are a wheelchair user with a neuromuscular disorder and epilepsy, as well as occasionally requiring the use of breathing equipment.

 

Support required:

 

·       Admin – handling paperwork, bills, and documentation

·       Personal care – assisting with showering and dressing

·       Meal preparation

·       Administering medication

·       General domestic tasks

 

Hourly rate of pay: £15.75

Hours per week: 19.5 hours

Working schedule: 7 days a week – times and lengths of visits can be adjusted for the right candidate

1 two-hour session for admin duties – days to be discussed

3 times a day:

Morning – 1 hour allocated for morning routine, typically starting at around 8am

Evening – 45 minutes at teatime for meal, administering medication

and any odd domestic tasks – approx. 5pm

Bedtime – 30 minutes for bedtime routine – starting around 9:30pm

Essential:

·       Must be self-employed

·       Driving Licence

·       Valid DBS

·       Public Liability Insurance

·       Social and conversational

Desirable:

•      Kowledge and experience in providing support to people with neuromuscular disorders and epilepsy, or a willingness to learn

•      Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in social care is preferred, or a strong willingness to learn

•      Prior experience in clinical skills is advantageous, although a keenness to acquire these skills is equally valued.

•      Openness to learning and growth, particularly for candidates new to the field of care, with reassurance that comprehensive training will be provided.

•      Availability for general healthcare training as needed.
